You got a piece of sweetcorn stuck where!?

2 year old Hartley got a piece of sweetcorn stuck up her nose!  She got taken into hospital and the doctor had to blow through her mouth and pinch her other nostril for it to fly out.  This is dangerous so don't try it at home!  We had lots of people calling in about things they got stuck up their nose and then it turned into ears ...

Jody called in and made me feel sick!  Her son had a spider crawl into his ear and again he was rushed into hospital because it was biting inside his ear.  Luckily it made it's way out on it's own but seriously that must be the weirdest sensation ever!

This morning Alison from Ecclesfield  won tickets to Yorkshire Wildlife Park for her family.  Ha ha Hallamster was dressed up as an Ostrich and he was wandering round on his back legs.  All you have to do is guess what animal he's dressed up as (he'll give you clues) and you could win a family pass tomorrow morning at 8:30.

I'm in trouble ...

I accidentally locked my boyfriend out last night.  He's very lucky because his friend had a spare ticket for the Olympic Closing Ceremony so he went to London yesterday.  His phone ran out of battery, he lost his friend and then thought he'd get the last train back to Sheffield.  I didn't know he was coming home and locked the door and left the key in the door.  So he got back at 1:30am and had to sleep in his car until I got up for work - oooops.  I laughed but he didn't see the funny side of it.  Maybe he will after a sleep?

GLYNN WON!!!!!

SO excited for Handsworth's Glynn who has given his girlfriend a brand new Fiat 500 with Stoneacre Motor Group.  Taio Cruz drew his idea of summer on the car and thousands of applicants applied and our final 5 contestants were live in the studio this morning.  It was very tense and we had a knockout round of questions and then it was finally between two people Sarah & Glynn.  Glynn got the final question right and we threw him into the car to try it out!

It's muggings here that's got the Google Ban this weekend so if you can help me with my questions this Monday I'd be really grateful - ta.  They will probably be a bit random knowing me. 

Jess and Steven's date was a success!  They hit it off after meeting on Date or Ditch yesterday and they were out in Sheffield last night after a lovely meal in Zizzi's.

From hailstones and power cuts to chicken pox ...

If you're not going abroad this year and you're having a 'staycation' then you'll of been pleased about what we were talking about this morning, holiday disasters!  There were some brilliant stories this morning.  Poor Margretta was going on her honeymoon when she noticed spots appearing on her daughter.  It was chicken pox!  So she hid her on the floor under a blanket on the plane.  They had to stay in for the first week of the holiday and then her husband got it too!  Nightmare, and Jake went away and the hailstones started throwing it down and they were all scared stiff because they were in complete darkness due to a power cut.

I can't walk, I've been sweating and every muscle in my body aches ...

I felt inspired yesterday by the Olympics so me and my boyfriend went for a bike ride.  Sounds like a good idea when the weather is nice?  We did 6 miles and felt fine so went on to do another 12 miles - 18 in total.  Last night I felt really tired and then this morning I woke up and EVERYTHING aches.  I had to have painkillers it was that bad and then proceeded to sweat crazily for the first two hours of the show.  I've cooled down now but won't be going on a bike for  a while .....

This morning we had the drummer from Pulp on the show - Nick Banks!  He's got his own pottery shop in Catcliffe and Pulp are rounding their tour up by playing here in Sheffield where it all began.  They'll be playing on the 8th of December at the Motorpoint Arena.

We've missed you!

It's our first day back after our hols and what an amazing weekend it's been for South Yorkshire.  Sheffield's Jessica Ennis has done us proud this weekend!  In honour of her win the post box near City Hall has been painted gold, naturally I decided to spray Hallamster gold too but he went a little bit ginger - ooops.

The kids break up for school today and the sun is coming out this weekend.  Two things to celebrate!

Hot Dean plays Date or Ditch!

This morning it was Dean choosing the ladies and he went for Karen on line 2.  Dean is Scottish and new to the area and they're off to Zizzi's in Leopold Square for some VIP treatment and hopefully some lurrrvvvveeeee.  We'll be calling them at 8am to see how they got on tomorrow morning.

Ahhhh Fred!  I love him!  We chatted to him this morning, he called us to let us know how OAP date or Ditch has been since he played a couple of weeks ago.  He's desperately trying to get a night out with Lynda - she's told him she's in Tenerife - that old chesnut!

Missing legs ...

This morning we were talking about 'Lost Property!'  Things that have been found and returned here in South Yorkshire.  One guy found £200 in a cash machine and handed it back to the guy who lost it.  The guy was very generous and gave him £40 to say thank you - 20% isn't bad is it?  I think my favourite story was when someone found a prosthetic leg on the road and handed it into a chemist!  If you missed it listen again tomorrow at 6.

James has beaten me (again!) at the Spellings Test and out totals for the year are 19 to James and 17 to me.  I'll have to wait till the school holidays are over to give him a good thrashing.

Nuts are good for you and I can prove it!

This morning we had Dr Christian Jessen on the Celebrity Yes No Game!  He's a lovely man and sounds a little bit posh.  We were quite surprised that he's still a practising GP and some of his patients get star struck when they come to the surgery.  If you missed it you can listen again at 6 tomorrow morning.  Oh he told us that nuts were good for us too ....

It's our last Spellings Test of the year tomorrow and it's with the school at the children's hospital in Sheffield!  It's a close one because Producer James is on 18 points and I'm on 17.  Hmmm I've just realised I can't possibly win unless it goes to sudden death.  You can guess along at home what our little lovelies are trying to spell.

I've just finished 50 Shades of Grey and I was really disappointed with the end!  Thanks for your reassuring messages telling me to buy the second book.  I'm onto it ladies and I've heard the Tesco tip off 2 for £7.  Happy Days!

Nipples!

Do you want to know why men have nipples?  I've always wondered that because men don't have to breast feed?  When we're embryos we're all girls as a template for the first 6 weeks and then either form into girls and then boys.  That was one of Big John's questions this morning after he had the Google Ban over the weekend.  We didn't have time to answer his final question which was 'Why does looking at a bright light when you feel a sneeze coming on, actually make you sneeze?'  If you can help him call us tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow morning we'll have a celebrity on the satellite and Big John has to guess who it is.  It could be anyone, an actor, singer, comedian, presenter and he can only ask questions that they can answer 'yes or no' to.  I reckon you could probably beat him if you're guessing along at home.

This is the man we've been reading about, flying Anastacia Steele around in his massive chopper, issuing 20 page contracts of bizarre requests and he has the weirdest recreational room ever.  But at least now we can put a face to the errrm - well filth quite frankly!

I've got face ache from lauging so hard!  71 year old Fred took three lovely ladies on a date last night to the Showroom in Sheffield.  They had a brilliant time.  I hope you heard it this morning, it was absolutely priceless.  He's got all Jayne, Linda and Margaret's numbers now in case he wants to go out on dates with them and said he felt like Hugh Heffner from the Playboy Mansion.  Fred I salute you!

Vorders!

It's taking over my life.  I started the book yesterday and I can't put it down.  I'm either at chapter 3 or 4 and apparently it starts to get rude around chapter 8!  I might just lock myself in the house this weekend after a drinking session tonight ha ha.  I think I'm going to have to start reading chapters to Big John on air- as long as he doesn't enjoy it too much that is!

Stolen Money!

Poor Jenny came on the show this morning to tell us her storyabout backpacking in India on her own.  The cash machines there keep your card in the machine once you've taken your money out in case you want to do another transaction.  So out of habit when Jenny withdrew her money she walked off.  She returned 30 seconds later (too late) £400 had been taken out of her account.  She was stranded and naturally called her Mum.  Thanks for all your calls on bank scams over the past two days.

Richard the Chef goes out on a date tonight with line number two Katherine and it's all down to our little game Date or Ditch.  One of Richard's friends predicted the future apparently and said he should choose line 2, so he did!  There off to La Mama's tapas bar for a lovely evening tonight.  Listen at 8 to see if they got on.

Bank Scams!

So, Big John has been ridiculing me about nearly getting ripped off.  I got one of those phishing e-mails requesting that ask you enter to your bank details or they'll suspend my account.  Stupidly I did it and then got that horrible stomach churn as I realised what I'd done!  Idiot!  So I quickly called my bank to change all my passwords etc.  I'm still very annoyed at myself!  So we were asking for your stories this morning and it was nice to know I wasn't on my own.

I won the Spellings Test this morning - YIPPEE!  The kids were so cute - bless them.  The scores are very close, Producer James is on 17 and I'm on his heels with 16 points.

An exciting day for South Yorkshire!

The Olympic Torch has made it's way through Barnsley, Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster and the atmosphere has been amazing!  I saw it go down Eccy Road last night and everywhere was so busy and everyone was cheering.  I hope you got to see it or see it today.

This morning we had Ray Mears on the show, what a top bloke!  Can't believe he had a crocdile waltz past him .... If you missed it listen tomorrow morning after 6.

IT'S FRIDAY! The week is over and there's no more work to do ...

I'm SO happy!  John chose Emma on Date or Ditch yesterday, they went on their date last night and guess what .... ?  They hit it off!  They were too nervous to eat their meal but said the food was lovely and then carried on drinking around a few bars in Broomhill.  This Sunday they're watching the England match together.  Could this be a budding romance?  I told you they were well suited.

So my fate is coming ... Help Me!

So, Big John and I both passed our GSCE's with an A and we had to do General Studies this morning to find a winner/loser.  I was the loser and I found out my forfeit ......
I'm petrified of spiders and either tomorrow or Wednesday I've got to hold a tarantula.  I know most people are scared of spiders but I have a genuine fear of even small ones and I've had it since I was little.  I'm going to be beside myself and I don't think I'm going to sleep tonight ...

Well done to all the ladies that did the Race for Life in Rotherham yesterday.  Big John and I went down there yesterday and the atmosphere was electric!  Everyone had made an effort and were dressed in pink from tutus, bunny ears, butterfly wings and feather boas!  The photos should be on our website in the next 24 hours.

John Bishop comedy legend is on the show tomorrow from 8 o clock and we can't wait to chat to him.

We passed!

I have passed my Maths GCSE with an A and Big John passed his with an A.  At first I thought it was cause for celebration and that it meant there was no forfeit because we drew.  But no, it was never going to be that simple was it!?  Now we have to take General Studies on Monday and unfortunately for me general knowledge/studies is my weak point.  Hmmmm.

The Results ....

Dooms day is coming.  Big John versus Janine continues and this week we both had to re-sit our GCSE's.  John took his Geography yesterday and I took my Maths exam today.  I know absolutely nothing about Geography which means I really don't know which one of us is going to win?  I know I definitely got one question wrong this morning and that was about percentages.  THE LOSER HAS TO DO A FORFEIT THAT WILL BE REVEALED TOMORROW ARRGGH.  Sorry for the shouty capitals - I'm scared!

Wow, Big John did his exam live on-air this morning and it was absolutely petrifying.  I can put my hand on my heart and say that I wouldn't of got any of them right which is unnerving, especially as I'm taking mine tomorrow ....  Mr Sale talked him through the questions very patiently and I guess it will be the same when I take my Maths exam tomorrow.  I'M SCARED!!!!!! HELP!

I'M SCARED!!!!

So, the saga continues and now we have found out that in the challenge 'Big John Versus Janine' Big John has to take Geography.  Rather him than me, I got chucked out of my Geography classes for talking to Peter Watson.  So tomorrow Big John will be taking GCSE Geography live on air.  I have to write his potential forfeits down - god help him.

Tomorrow I also find out what subject I'm taking.  I'm not going to lie - I'm bricking it!

It's the Spellings Test tomorrow and we'll have some cuties spelling some words and James and I will be playing against each other.  It's currently 16 to James and 14 to me so I need the points ...

We're back!

Ahh it was so nice to be re-united with my radio husbands this morning and Hallamster of course.  Well it was nice until we heard an announcement about 'Big John Versus Janine.'  So far we've taken our driving tests and both passed (John clearly beat me on points but I would never admit that on air and I know he doesn't read this!)  The next challenge we face is retaking our GCSE's - WHAT!?!  We did ours years ago, I don't know if we can revise and I don't know what subject I'm doing ....  I'm terrified!  Please god let me win or he's going to be gloating all year.

Elaine Won!

This morning Elaine from Wadsley became £2,000 richer when she won Big John's Ultimate Ear Test!  It's been bugging South Yorkshire and me for 2 weeks and she finally got it just before 8 o'clock.  Her husband Chris is a plumber so he must hear that sound every day and he guessed it and told his wife to call.  The answer is when the mixer tap on the bath is pulled up to swap it over to the shower.  There's a video of the sound being made on our website.

Two people this morning got SO close on Big John's Ultimate Ear Test at 8:30!  There has been another clue and it seems like everyone is on the heels of the answer.  Producer James knows what it is and we don't so I keep on getting really nervous every time the game is on!

The Spellings Test!

It's back tomorrow morning and Producer James and I go head to head!  I think he's in the lead at the moment so I'm going to try and thrash him tomorrow morning.

Be careful with hoax e-mails that appear to be from your bank.  I got caught out yesterday and stupidly put my details in and spent an hour on the phone last night changing passwords and all sorts.  What an idiot I am!  It was on my phone so I didn't notice the dodgy browser so just be careful.

This morning I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat because we had on the wonderful Floella Benjamin that used to be on Playschool with Humpty Dumpty.  She's an absolute legend and yo can catch our chat with her after 6 tomorrow morning if you missed it.

There's been a clue for Big John's Ultimate Ear Test and the clue is 'above or below!'  I haven't got a clue what it means but try and tie it in with your guess to see if you've got it right?  It has to be won by Friday so make sure your persistent and get on the phone lines as soon as we open them so you don't miss out on that £2,000!

The competition just got a lot very exciting!  We've doubled the cash from £1,000 to £2,000, tomorrow the clues start and if we get to Friday and it the money still hasn't been won then we keep going and going until someone gets the right answer and gets all that money before the bank holiday weekend!

We have a celebrity on the phone tomorrow and Big John has to guess who it is on the phone.  The thing is they can only answer 'yes or no' to his questions and we time him to see how long it takes him to guess it right!  Will he step up to the challenge or will you guess who it is first while you're listening?!

Thanks for helping me this morning with the Google Ban.  We got that many calls we've had to roll two of the questions over to tomorrow.  They are 'Do dogs speak a universal language?  I was watching Britain's Got Talent on Saturday and when Pudsey won I thought would a French dog understand an English dog?  Also on the news today there was a story about Virgin Atlantic being able to let people make calls in the air during their flight.  I want to know why you can't use your phone in flight mode during take off?

I think we have a success story on our hands!

Last night Katherine and Mark went out on a date to Loch Fyne after hooking up on Date or Ditch yesterday.  She was after a rough around the edges no nonsense man and it sounds like that's what she got.  They've swapped numbers and Mark said he got lucky and they would recommend Date or Ditch to meet someone!

We have a BIG announcement to make on Monday as long as you don't get Big John's Ulitmate Ear Test right today.

Double Date or Ditch!

Unfortunately Hayley and John weren't a success story.  Their date was postponed because hayley's son was poorly so they went out last night.  They had a nice time though so it's always worth a go!

Spaced out Tuesdays ...

How are you feeling after the bank holiday weekend?  It always feels like a Monday after a bank holiday and we all feel a bit jaded but the good news is we're closer to the weekend!

Tomorrow we have some little lovelies from Herringthorpe Junior School in Rotherham spelling some words for us on the spellings test.  James and I are rubbish and I got robbed last week, I think John was trying to make James win.  I'm determined to win tomorrow at 8.

Hayley and John had to postpone their date on Date or Ditch in March because Hayley's son was poorly.  He's better now though and their off out tonight so we'll catch up with them tomorrow to see if it's true lurrvvvveeee!

But I think I should've won ....

I'm not going to lie this morning I felt properly conned.  Not only did I get the word fraction right in the Spellings Test this morning but I buzzed in at exactly the same time as James.  Toys out of the pram 'IT'S NOT FAIR!' ahhhh I feel better now ..

It's Date or Ditch tomorrow morning!  One lovely lady having 3 guys fight for her affection.  If you haven't heard it before it's so brilliantly awkward that I bite my nails a lot.  I love hearing the guys sell themselves - they only have 60 seconds to do it between the three of them and it cracks me up.  Make sure you listen at 8.
