Have a party you you!

Ahhhh did you hear Tilly this morning?  She's Big John's daughter and that's her very own version of Happy Birthday to you!  Super cute.

How frustrating for Laura Colley in Rotherham - we read out her bill at 8:30 and she called us at 8:45.  She missed out on getting her bill paid by 5 minutes!  You have to be listening out for your name and you only have ten minutes to call us.  Register yours now www.hallamfm.co.uk/bills

This morning I managed to beat Producer James at the Spellings Test - not by skill but by your help!  Thanks for all your calls and thanks to Thorne Green Top Primary School in Doncaster for being our School of the Week!  The kids this morning were brilliant.

Tomorrow morning it's the South Yorkshire Awards for your best 'Help I'm Stuck' stories.  If you've got one to tell us ring us in the morning at 8 o'clock.

I'm sooooooo cold I bought a hot water bottle last night, my nose was that red I looked like Ronald McDonald!  Keep nice and toasty today and we'll see you in the morning.

Stella was on! (Not the beer ...)

This morning the tension was building for Producer James leading up to 8 o'clock for the Celebrity Yes No Game.  He gets a mystery celebrity on the phone and Big John is against the clock to guess who it is.  They can only answer Yes or No to his questions and this morning Michelle Collins from Corrie was on.  We got all the juicy gossip from her about what it was like to kiss Jason and if you missed it you can hear her again from 6 o'clock.

Well done to Claire Jones and Sam Mellors for calling in on time to get their bills paid!  If you registered yours it's really importnat to make sure you're listening at 7:30 & 8:30.

Tomorrow our little uns from Thorne Green Top Primary School in Doncaster are on the Spellings Test.  It's not how to spell it's what are they spelling!?  Guess along with James and I and hopefully I won't be a loser again.  I hate having to make every single brew for the team alllll week!

See you tomorrow.

Well I never knew that ....!

This morning on the Google Ban we found out two interestings answers to our weird questions.  If you've never heard if before we have to write down any questions that come in our head over the weekend and we're not aloud to Google the answers.  We then ask you to resolve them for us if you know the answer.  Big John's question was about his dog Willow.  Tilly (John's daughter) keeps sneezing over his dog and since then the dog has been sneezing so John wondered if his dog could catch his daughters cold?  My question was about pilots and whether they need 100% in their test to get their license.  In your driving test you can have minor faults so I wondered if they were aloud any?  If you missed the answers listen tomorrow morning after 6.

So this morning you'd of thought i was about to go trekking through the Antarctic!  I got up earlier, had my wellies on, I'd parked my car down the road and I was ready for this snow storm.  Yes I know, it didn't come and luckily I had my normal boots in a plastic bag so I didn't look like a total fool when I got to work.

Alan Daniels in Rotherham and Kerry White in Donny - where were you?!!?  We read out your names this morning and wanted to pay your bills but you didn't call us within the 10 minutes.  I'm gutted for you.  Listen throughout the day if you've registered yours to see if Scott or Steve read your name out - good luck!!!

Tomorrow we have a celebrity on at 8 - don't miss it Big John will be desperately trying to guess who it is.  It was Marvin from JLS last week.

See you in the morning!

The weekend is here!

For for most people this is the first proper week back at work.  Was it alright?  We've finally got to the weekend!  I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with myself this weekend.  I stupidly decided to go on a detox on Monday, I haven't drunk a drop of alcohol for 5 days and I've been trying to be healthy.  I fell off the food wagon on Monday and have a McDonalds because I was so tired.  I actually drove through the drive thru on my own and pigged out in the car park.  I think I'm going to have to take small steps with my health kick through January.

This morning we were chatting about the 5 most talked about topics in South Yorkshire.  Thanks for your calls, texts and Facebook messages.  If you missed it this was the top 5.

1) Harry Styles & Taylor Swift splitting up.
2) The council plans to close Don Valley Stadium
3) Splash on ITV
4) Snow coming this weekend - arrggghhhhhh
5) The oldest man in Britain now lives in Sheffield in Broomhill and he's 109 years old!  Lovely Mr Tennant!

Well done to Sharon Baker in Barnsley and Gareth Smithies from Sprotborough!  They got their bills paid this morning and Sharon said you HAVE to register your bills.  She said it takes 2 minutes and it's well worth it.  Do it now!  www.hallamfm.co.uk/bills

Have a lovely weekend and we'll see you on Monday.

Your Claims to Fame were brilliant actually!

Amanda cracked me up this morning!  She went to Granada Studios to see Joe Pasquale on the Price is Right and her name was actually called out!  You won't believe what happened to her and if you missed it you can hear it again after 6 tomorrow.  There was another brilliant story from Kate in Maltby about how she met Lee Ryan from Blue, it involves a tea towel.

I was absolutely gutted for Charlotte Reynolds this morning, she didn't call in time to get her Divorce bill paid.  Neither did Debbie Edwards from Barnsley - she wanted her hair paying for.  If you're wondering what I'm on about Big John is paying your bills and all you have to do is register them ALL for free on our website.  Get them all on there Electricity, Gas, Council Tax, Car Finance and you could get them paid here on Hallam FM.  If you hear your name mentioned then you have ten minutes to call us.  Make sure you're listening out for your name at 7:30 & 8:30.

It's Friday tomorrow so we'll be getting you in the mood for the weekend by singing the Friday song.

See you tomorrow (yeay for the weekend!)

He beat me!

I'm a 'LOOOOOOOOSER!'  This morning was the return of this years Spellings Test and I lost big time!  The kids from St John Fisher Catholic School in Hackenthorpe were spelling words and James and I have to guess what they're spelling.  The loser has to make all the brews and the kitchen is up two flights of stairs and across a big office.  Oh well, I need the exercise after Christmas...

Well done to Mark Collier & Nicola Turner.  They got their bills paid this morning by Big John.  If you haven't registered your bills make sure you do it now and enter as many as you like and we could be reading your name out on the radio in the morning.
www.hallamfm.co.uk/bills
You only have ten minutes to call in so whatever you do make sure you're listening at 7:30 & 8:30.

Poor Big John got a sweat on running through the streets and across fields to find his daughter's bear that she dropped.  It was starting to get dark and he was frantically searching for it and came home empty handed.  His wife, Del, then ran off when he got back home and found it within ten minutes!  Why is it men can never find things?!

See you in the morning.

The rumours aren't true!

This morning in the papers they said that JLS could be splitting up!  We spoke to Marvin and it's a load of rubbish don't worry.  They're on tour this year and will be at the Motorpoint Arena this December.  By the way did you know JB has a farm - how random?!!?  If you missed it this morning you can hear it again tomorrow after 6.

Tomorrow morning it's the return of our little friends on the Spellings Test!  Our school of the week is St John Fisher Catholic Primary School in Hackenthorpe and if you can guess what the kids are spelling give us a call.  Producer James and I play against each other but sometimes we draw a blank so listen at 8 and give us a hand if you can?

Don't forget we could be getting rid of your unwanted bills tomorow morning.  If you've registered yours make sure you're listening tomorrow morning at 7:30 & 8:30.  Julie Richardson from Rotherham got her council tax bill paid today!

See you in the morning.

Hair & Corks

So this weekend it was my turn to stay clear of Google and write my questions down and these were the two that made it through to the show this morning.  I put my bottles out over the weekend that I accumulated over Christmas and New Year, there were quite a few, and I was wondering about wine bottles.  Years ago they all used have a cork in them and now loads of them have screw tops and I wanted to know why?  We had a wine expert on called Patrick with the most beautiful french accent!  I also wanted to know why the hair on your arms doesn't grow as long as the hair on your head.  If you missed the answers to them then listen tomorrow for them after 6.

Well done Karen Wilson in Cudworth who got her bill paid this morning!  Big John is paying your bills and you can register them on our website.  If you hear your name you've only got 10 minutes to call us and if you do that's it your hideous bill is gone!  Good luck.

Tomorrow we've got a celebrity on the show - yeay!!!  We set Big John a challenge to guess who it is and the celebs can only answer yes and no to his questions.  Reckon you can beat him?  Make sure you listen at 8.

See you in the morning!

We're going to pay your bills!

This morning Big John read out my bills - credit card statements, my electricity bill, council tax etc ...  It's great isn't talking about the money you've spent already and the bills you've got to pay!  If like me you're up to your eyeballs in it make sure you register your bills because if Big John reads out yours on Monday then we could be paying it for you.  All the details and how to submit your bills are here www.hallamfm.co.uk/win/bigjohn-pays-your-bills.  Good luck!

This morning we spoke to Geraldine and she told us an amazing story about what happened to her at her works do.  I'm surprised she didn't break her bones, poor woman!  If you missed it listen after 6 on Monday.

I've got the Google Ban over the weekend so any questions that crop up I'm not allowed to Google (even if it's to settle an argument!)  So if you can help me out at 8 on Monday that would be lovely.  God knows what I'm going to think up!?

It's nice isn't a little cheeky 3 days back at work and then the weekend.  Have a good one and we'll see you on Monday.

Your first day at work ...

Did you hear about One Direction?  On their way to a meeting with their new American record label they started wolf whistling and shouting 'nice bum' at a lady on the way in out of the car window.  They arrived at the meeting, sat down and the boss that walked was a lady, the same lady that they'd been whistling at.  'Awkward!'  So this morning you've been telling us your first day at work stories.  Poor Alan fell the stairs on his first day and broke his knee.  He got taken away in an ambulance and was in a world of pain.  We had so many funny calls and if you missed them you can catch them tomorrow after 6.

Celebrity Brother starts tonight Claire from Steps, Meatloaf, jockey Frankie Detori are all thought to be going in.  Did you ever see the Hills on MTV - that American show?  Well Spencer Pratt & Heidi Montag are going in and there were reports that Jim Davidson was going in.  Rylan is the bookies favourite to go in.  The celebs will be split into two groups and half of them will be going into a slum in a basement and the other half will be in luxury when they get in the house.  It's on at 9 tonight on Channel 5.

Don't forget to register your bills on hallamfm.co.uk because next week Big John could be paying your bills.

See you in the morning.

Happy New Year!

Are you back at work yet?  It was our first day back today and the first time I've set my alarm for 11 days.  I didn't know where I was when it went off this morning and we all looked a little bit bleary eyed when we got in.  But it's good to be back and I hope you had a lovely time over Christmas and New Year.

Hallamster's Ultimate iTest was finally won this morning!  Well done to Mel in Chapeltown who guessed who the celebrity was saying 'I' ... It was Peter Andre!  She won a Roberts Digital Radio, tickets to see Olly Murs, X Factor Live, Strictly and Hallamster's back catalogue of CDs!

Big John had the Google Ban over the past 48 hours and his questions were about parking tickets and phone batteries.  He wanted to know that if a parking attendant was half way through giving you a ticket whether you could reason with them.  If you missed the answer you can hear it after 6 tomorrow.

See you in the morning!
